Professional Authoring Tools
DoStudio Authoring Suite (DSA) is a professional BD-ROM specification compliant tool designed for ease of authoring and maximum playback performance. Due to DSA’s high-end feature set, it competes with Sonic Scenarist BD and Sony Blu-print for high-end uses such as Hollywood studio titles. DoStudio, Scenarist and Blu-print are the only tools that are reliable for Blu-ray discs that go to replication. Other than the obvious cost difference, the power of DSA lies in its streamlined workflow and speed of authoring.

Prosumer Authoring Tools
At the other end of the feature-set and cost spectrum are the following prosumer level Blu-ray authoring tools. These tools are inexpensive, easy to use and familiar to DVD authors, however they do not create full-featured Blu-ray discs. The primary difference between the prosumer level tools and DoStudio is their lack of support for pop-up menus, picture-in-picture, and BD-J. These tools create DVD-style menu structures with high-definition video content rather than “Hollywood-style” Blu-ray discs.
