Why did NetBlender introduce a new version of DoStudio Authoring?

As the DoStudio user base has grown, two distinct customer types with different requirements have emerged:

1. Small (one to three-person) studios seeking a professional and easy-to-use alternative to one of the prosumer tools on the market.  For these customers, license fee is a big consideration, as is access to a thriving and supportive community of users.  NetBlender is committed to serving this “Independent” segment of the market, and for them we offer DoStudio Indie Edition.  We’ve preserved all the great DoStudio Authoring features, and the great price, that have made it the number one choice for Independent authors around the world.  And over the course of 2009, we’ve added several self-service tutorials and built the NetBlender Community Portal into a dynamic resource for new and experienced Blu-ray authors.
2. Medium to large sized post production facilities, often with more than one location and whose production workflow normally includes more than one person per BD title.  To serve the needs of this customer, NetBlender announced a new member of the DoStudio Authoring family at NAB 2010 - DoStudio EX Edition.  EX boasts the same set of core features as the Indie Edition, and it comes with two additional authoring-only seats (that is, no muxing or formatting) to address the need for workgroup collaboration on titles.  Now, your graphic artist can have their own DoStudio instance to work in on menus while your AV specialist preps assets, performs the bit budgeting and sets up playlists and the lead author builds and tests the navigation flowchart.

• EX also offers a number of advanced features as optional modules.  These include 3D authoring, Bootstrapping for BD-Live and the ability to include third-party interactive applications (BDJO) in your playlist.

Can I upgrade from Indie to EX?

Yes!  If you have already purchased DoStudio Authoring Indie Edition, and you want to upgrade to EX, you just pay the difference in the license fee.
