The NB Managed Copy Solution provides you with a unique Managed Copy URL for each of your Blu-ray titles. Simply enter this URL in the BDCMF Settings in DoStudio and your disc is ready for replication.

What does the Managed Copy URL do?
The Managed copy URL is a location on a web server that will (in the future) point to an authentication server which will be used to verify whether the Blu-ray disc can be copied and if has already been copied legally according to the managed copy requirements. If the allowed copy has not yet been made, then the authentication server will allow the copy to be made. If the copy has already been made, the authentication server will reject the copy request.

We monitor the Managed Copy Specs so you don’t have to.
The AACS LA is in the process of finalizing the specs for a managed copy authentication server. The AACS LA will provide managed copy authentication servers for a fee and they will also license the ability to create your own managed copy authentication servers. When the AACS LA finalizes the specs, we will contact you about the options for actually providing managed copy features to your discs along with the associated fees.

Does the NB Managed Copy Solution make my Blu-ray disc replication-ready now?
YES.

How much does the NB Managed Copy Solution cost?
$250.  Additional fees will apply when your URL is converted or re-directed to a Managed Copy Authentication server.  It is expected that the AACS LA will finalize the specs in Q2 2010.  It is expected that your URL will be required to convert or re-direct to an authentication server in Q4 2010.  The additional fees for the authenticaion server have not yet been set by the AACS LA.

Can I continue to replicate discs without a Managed copy URL and ISAN like I have been doing?
NO. As of December 4, 2009, it is mandatory that your discs have both an ISAN and link to a Managed Copy URL when you send the masters for replication.

Can I just use my own URL as a temporary URL for Managed Copy and change it to permanent one later?
NO. The Managed Copy URL is hard-coded into the disc so it cannot change after you have replicated your disc.The NB Managed Copy Solution provides a URL that will not need to be changed as the Managed Copy specs evolve.

Does the NB Managed Copy URL act as an authentication server today?
NO. The AACS LA has not yet finalized the specs for an authentication server. This is expected in Q2 2010. Your NB Managed Copy URL will be converted to an authentication server or be re-directed to an authentication server when the specs are finalized.

Will there be more costs when the NB Managed Copy URL converts to an authentication server?
YES. The AACS LA is going to charge a fee to use their Managed Copy authentication servers. This price has not yet been determined. The AACS LA is going to charge a license fee to companies (like NetBlender) who plan to set up authentication servers. This price has not yet been set. When we know what the AACS fees are we will notify you.

How long will the URL be valid?
10 years. The Managed Copy URL will be maintained by NetBlender and hosted by a leading hosting company.
