Single or Dual-stream HD-SDI capture from Tape

The ScreamerNet Capture software is used in conjunction with the SkyMicro Merlin IP capture card when 2D or 3D capture from tape sources is required in the automation workflow.  Once configured, the ScreamerNet Capture client can be assigned Activities and monitored by the ScreamerNet server so the encoding process can begin in parallel with the tape capture.

What is included with the ScreamerNet Capture solution:

MerlinIP Board from Skymicro
Featuring the powerful Xilinx™Virtex™-5 FPGA, the MerlinIP provides real-time tape capture of audio and video from single or dual HD-SDI sources.

The MerlinIP Board requires physical shipment.  Please allow two weeks for delivery.

DoCapture
DoCapture (DSC), combined with the SkyMicro MerlinIP board, provides real-time dual stream HD capture from VTR to uncompressed YUV.  DSC also provides VTR control.

RamDisc
RamDisc is a third-party application that creates a high speed virtual drive volume from the workstation’s available RAM.  In the ScreamerNet system, RamDisc is used to create a virtual volume for storage of the YUV files that are created by DSC.  DSE encodes the YUV files on the fly from the RamDisc volume.

Brec
Brec is a free utility from SkyMicro that provides VTR control.  DoCapture is dependent upon some core features of Brec so Brec must be installed on the capture system in order to function properly.
