DSA Tutorials: Overview
Welcome to the DoStudio Authoring tutorials. These tutorials have been created to provide you with an overview of the Blu-ray authoring process with DoStudio. They can be used by licensed DoStudio customers or by trial users who are evaluating DoStudio.
About the Tutorials:
The tutorials are structured as step-by-step instruction with associated videos. You begin with a blank project and by the end of Tutorial #9 you have completed the DSA Demo project in its entirety. We provide the audio/video/graphics assets for download in our Sandbox.
The tutorials are designed to be followed in order. They follow an iterative review process in which you are instructed to compile and review your work regularly to see your progress and to reveal the next required authoring task. Over the course of the tutorials you build the entire project from scratch so skipping ahead can cause the iterative review process to break down.
When you have completed the Tutorials, you will have performed nearly every authoring task required to produce a professional Blu-ray disc with DoStudio.
About the Videos:
The tutorial videos are screen captures of an actual Blu-ray author at work. There is no narration, although you will hear the sound of the computer and the Blu-ray playback. The videos provide visual representation of the steps described in each tutorial.
The videos are embedded in the page at 1/2 resolution. It is recommended that you view them full screen for clarity.
The videos are produced at native 1280×720 resolution so you can really see everything that is going on. Keep in mind that 1280×720 is below the recommended screen resolution for DoStudio, so you will see that the DSA interface is a little crowded at times. You will see the author adjust the sizes of windows depending on the authoring task at hand.
What you need to get started:
- Download the Demo Project assets from the Sandbox.
The Demo Project includes the audio and video assets, a menu PSD for importing, subtitle files, and chapter XML. The downloadable package also includes the completed project file that you can use for study and manipulation. Please read the READ ME file included with the download package before you get started.
- If you are a licensed DoStudio customer, you’re all set. If you are evaluating DoStudio, please download our free 30-day trial. You will also want to download the free 30-day trial of Arcsoft TotalMedia Theatre for Blu-ray playback on your PC.
That’s all you need to know! Good luck with the tutorials. If you have authoring questions please direct them to our forum at our Community Portal.
As always, we welcome your feedback. Let us know how the tutorials help you (or areas where you would like to see further instruction).
