Tutorial 3.A. Setup the Loading Screen
What you will learn in this section:
- What the loading screen does
- How to add a still image as the loading screen
You can choose what gets displayed while the Blu-ray player loads your BD-J menu into memory. Depending on the Profile, age and general speed of the Blu-ray player, this loading time can be very brief (1 second) or longer (upwards of 40 seconds). The loading time depends upon the speed/quality of the Blu-ray Disc Player and the amount of graphics you have included in your menus.
You can choose to display nothing but a blank screen, a static image, or an image that animates back and forth on screen. If you choose the animated image, it is recommended that you keep the size of the image very small. Your loading screen image must be a PNG and it can not be larger than 1920 x 1080.
In this demo project, we will set up a static loading screen image. The PNG file is included with the demo project files.
To set up the loading screen:
- Click on the Blu-ray Titles folder in the Playlist tree and select the Loading Screen tab in the Control Panel.
- Choose static image from the combo box. This displays several options in the Control Panel.
- Use the ellipses button to select the image file: “loading.png” (this file is in the root of your demo project’s directory).
- Choose black as the background color
- Enter 770 for the Horizontal position and 400 for the vertical position (the loading.png image is 380×280 and this centers the image on the screen).
