Tutorial 5.B. – Add Show Menu Block Action
What you will learn in this section:
- How to add an Action
- How to use the Show Menu action
To make your main menu appear automatically when the Menu Loop Playlist is played, we will apply an Action. Actions are used to create all of the interactivity on your Blu-ray disc. Actions can be applied to Playlist/Chapter events and button elements in your project. They are executed when those events occur or when the button is pressed.
To make your main menu appear when the Menu Loop Playlist is played:
- Display the Playlist tree by clicking the Playlist tab
- Click the Start Event for the Main Menu Loop Playlist to display the Action editor window in the Control Panel.
- Right-click in the Action editor windows to display the action list
- Select Menu Actions > Menu Actions > Show Menu Block. The “Show Menu Block” action appears in the Action Editor Window.
Most Actions have parameters that you set using pull-down lists or simple text entry. The Show Menu Block action has three parameters: Menu Block name (this is the menu block that you want to appear on screen), Set name (this is the set that you want to display when the menu shows) and Selected Button (this determines which button is selected (ie. highlighted) when the menu shows.
- Use the pull-down list to select “Main Menu” for the Menu Block name.
- Use the pull-down list to select “Main Menu Set” for the Set name. (Your Main menu only has one set so this will be selected by default).
- Use the pull-down list to select “MM Play Film” for the Selected Button. (This button is the first button in your set in the menu elements tree, so it will be selected by default by the Action)
