Tutorial 6.B. - Create an Advanced Parameter (APRM)
What you will learn in this section:
- How to create an Advanced Parameter (APRM)
To create the global audio selection setting we will use some powerful authoring techniques included with Dostudio called Advanced Parameters and Conditions. Â Advanced Parameters (APRMs) are custom variables that you, the author, can create. Â In this demo project, we’ll create an APRM for your audio setting. Â APRMs can contain text or numerical values. Â We’ll use text so that we can name our Audio settings using…well…plain language. Â You’ll see in a moment.
Conditions are simple IF/THEN statements for evaluating our APRMs. Â We’ll use Conditions in tutorial 6.D.
To get started, let’s create an APRM for our audio setting. Â We’ll call it “Audio”.
- Click the Disc Information settings icon in the tool bar to display the properties in the Control Panel.
- Click the tab called “Advanced Parameter”.
- Click “New” and type “Audio” into the dialog box that pops up. Â Press OK. Â You will now see the APRM called “Audio” listed in the APRM list.
- Click the APRM “Audio” in the APRM list. Â You will see “0″ appear in the “Initial Value” setting.
- Type “English” in the Initial Value setting.Â

You have now created an APRM called “Audio” and given it an initial value “English”.
